BWI Technologies was founded in July 2003 to
fill a need of many small businesses.
During discussions with many owner/operators of
small businesses, it became apparent that the
need for affordable technical support was great. Most small businesses were faced
with the daunting choice of finding or hiring
in-house staff with some level of technical
knowledge, or hiring expensive consulting firms
to handle their immediate IT needs. While using
in-house personnel was often a less expensive
approach to meeting this goal, these "texperts"
often are tasked with these new IT duties over
and above their normal day-to-day tasks. This
makes these staffers less effective in
accomplishing their normal tasks, and makes them
more prone to burnout and attrition.
Additionally, these "texperts" often have a
limited technological skill set and this can directly impact
the success or failure of the implementation of
any technology solution. The other alternative
requires the "hiring" of larger consulting
firms. These firms, whose focus is larger, more
profitable clients, provide small business with
adequately engineered technology solutions, but
are expensive and often less flexible, making
their long-term use painful at best, and
cost-prohibitive at worst. At BWI Technologies,
we believe that small businesses should be free
to enjoy the benefits provided by the large
consulting firms, while also enjoying financial
benefits of dealing with a less expensive, local
alternative.
Principals
Thomas J.
"Butch" Like, Jr.
President
Thomas, or
"Butch" to his friends & customers, is the
founder and president of BWI Technologies. His
personal goal is to lead his company in filling
the void between the use of in-house staff and
large consulting firms. Butch comes to BWI
Technologies by way of Netiquette Enterprise
Technologies, Inc. or NETinc, where he was
a technology consultant from May 1996 to October 2003. NETinc
is a medium-to-large-business consulting firm,
whose primary focus is on the day-to-day
management of large business networks. During
his tenure with NETinc, Butch rose from an
engineering position to leading the technical
and sales forces on a day-to-day basis. He was
integral in the development, growth and ultimate
success of that firm's small-business technology
consultancy. During this eight years of
remarkable achievement with NETinc, Butch was
called upon to provide their clients with a
broad range of technology and business
solutions, and often served those clients as
their Chief Information Officer, IT director, or
Network Administrator. In many cases, the
executive management of those clients came to
depend upon NETinc and Butch for strategic
insight, much as they would a loyal in-house executive.
Butch was also integral in developing NETinc's
broad management and monitoring offerings,
allowing small businesses to completely
outsource their IT needs, which in turn allowed
them to focus on their core business needs. It
was often said that "if Butch is handling the
issue, don't worry about it." These experiences,
coupled with his involvement in the day-to-day
management and operation of NETinc itself, put
Butch in a unique position that allowed him to
see small business' overall and IT needs in a
new perspective. This perspective ultimately
resulted in the birth of BWI Technologies.
Butch has been involved with engineering
technology solutions for a variety of companies
and industries since 1986. All these experiences
serve to formulate a deep & thorough knowledge of small
business needs and practices, which he
continually uses to assist his valued clientele
in the design and implementation of properly
engineered, intelligent, technology solutions.
Butch is happily married to his lovely wife of
fourteen years, Lynn. They have three children
and one grandson. Butch and his family reside in
the Springtown area and are active in their
church. He is a member of the Springtown
Area
Chamber of Commerce, the Parker County Executive
Association and enjoys participation in
his children's sporting and academic activities.
He enjoys participation in local & national
politics and is an avid reader and firearms
enthusiast.
